Tape Art and Deaf Arts Network NZ
There are two events happening this month that will be of interest to those interested in art.
International public art team Struan Ashby and Erica Duthie offer a series of workshops for artists from the Deaf Community using their unique art form - drawing with tape.
The workshop series will explore life-sized figure-drawing as a basis for narrative mural-making. Skills needed to create spontaneous collabrative murals will also be explored. Discover the richness of gesture and expressive line with tape, and step beyond the limits of canvas.
After three sessions, Erica and Struan will support the artists too create their own public mural in Aotea Square. The mural will be 'alive' for 24 hours before a community 'rip down'.
Workshops will take place with the support of Charlie Grimsdale and Megan Mansfield.
