November 2011
Annette Arthur
It gives us great pleasure to introduce you to Annette Arthur from Levin. She is now working at LivingPlus under MASH Trust Friendship Service, doing volunteer work under “Activities in the Community” which is a Community project to help people gain skills in the community or voluntary organisation. Annette had not worked for 17 years and is really enjoying being back in the workforce. MASH provides support services for people with psychiatric, intellectual or physical disability or illness. LivingPlus is a day activity program for people with intellectual disabilities. They provide recreational leisure/creative activities like Art & Crafts, Music, Drama, Swimming and being out in the community and many more activities, as well as learning Daily living skills like cooking and health and beauty, also exercise and fitness. Annette has been buddied up with a person who is Deaf and unable to speak and they both enjoy sewing and getting along very well. Staff at MASH are slowly learning Sign Language and have enjoyed having Annette around their workplace. One of the staff said “She is such a delightful lady to work alongside and with such determination”. We wish to congratulate Annette and wish you all the best in your future role!
