Cochlear Recall
Cochlear is recalling (taking back) their Nucleus CI500 cochlear implant range – some of these devices have failed/stopped working. It is important to note that no implants outside the Cochlear Nucleus CI500 range are affected. For more information please contact your audiologist (where you get your cochlear implant maintained).

Elections DVDs
The Government have produced Election 2011 DVDs which explains the Election and Referendum Process. This DVD has English Subtitles (for both Election and Referendum) and NZSL (for Election part only).
A free copy of this DVD have been posted to all members in Auckland Region who do not have email. If you do not have a copy you are welcome to visit Auckland Office to borrow or watch the DVD.
8th Deaf History International Conference (Toronto, Canada)

New Deaf Aotearoa Youth Services
Hey guys and girls, we wanna invite you to participate in a competition. We lookin’ for a brand new name for our Youth services. We have a fantastic prize up to the value of $150 for the winner of this competition who will also be featured in our next TalkHands Newsletter. Woah!

• 24 years or under
• Deaf or Hearing Impaired
• Live in New Zealand
• The title be no more than three words
• Must be attractive to youth – cool, fun, culture and unique etc...

Farewell
Sadly Gemma Claire and Ginette Rawlinson (Employment Consultants) have leaf Deaf Aotearoa. Gemma’s last day was on Friday 16th September and Ginette’s on Wednesday 21st September. Gemma and Ginette will still continue to work in the Deaf Community through her interpreting work. All of us at Deaf Aotearoa wish them the best of luck for the future.
